Linear sensors (also known as encoders or wire-rope sensors) are used to measure distance (in motion). For this, the sensor cable is hooked to the moving part and the box remains fixed.
They are commonly used in applications where linear motion monitoring is required for system control or for safety reasons.
Posital has developed a range of LINARIX products. Compared to conventional linear potentiometers or cable potentiometers, LINARIX is more durable and more flexible to configure according to customer needs. The sensors are precalibrated nonetheless scalable, endowed with long lifetimes and capable of monitoring position even without a power supply using absolute rotary encoders for detection.

In which sectors are linear sensors used?
LINARIX wired sensors allow extremely precise measurements thanks to the intrinsic qualities of absolute encoders whose robust construction ensures reliable performance even under extreme conditions. In addition, the systems have very long lifetimes with no degradation in performance.
