The advantages of Prisma P tables

> Safe electrical installation
Perfect consistency between Schneider Electric and Prisma P switchgear is a major advantage in ensuring a good level of safety for the installation.

> An electrical installation that knows how to evolve
The modular concept of Prisma P switchboards allows the electrical installation to evolve easily and to integrate new functional units on demand.
Maintenance operations, carried out when the switchboard is off, are quick and comfortable thanks to total accessibility to the equipment.

> In complete safety for the operator
Work on an electrical panel must be carried out by authorized persons respecting all the required safety measures.
To further increase worker safety, the equipment is installed behind a protective faceplate revealing only the operating handle.
Additional internal protections (partitions, screens) make it possible to produce forms 2, 3 or 4, which protect the operators against direct contact with the active parts.
Terminal shields are therefore strongly recommended for installing Compact NSX, INS / INV in Prisma P, for even greater protection of workers.

The design of the system has been validated by type tests according to IEC 61439-1 and 2 standards and benefits from the cumulative experience of Schneider Electric customers for many years.

IEC 61439 standard

Both the energy point of arrival and the distribution unit for site applications, the LV switchboard is the intelligence of the device, at the heart of the electrical installation.
It plays a key role in the availability of electrical energy, while meeting the security needs of people and property. Its definition, design and installation are based on precise rules; improvisation is not in order. The purpose of the IEC 61439 standard is to better define “low voltage switchgear assemblies”, ensuring that the specified performance is achieved. It specifies in particular:

Only equipment produced in accordance with the requirements of IEC 61439-1 and 2 guarantees the safety and reliability of the installation.
The person in charge of an installation, aware of the professional and legal risks to which he and his company are exposed, demands a high level of safety from his electrical installation.
On the other hand, the serious economic consequences resulting from prolonged production stoppages require the electrical panel to have perfect continuity of service, whatever the operating conditions.

The Schneider Electric solution

The table tested Prisma

This is a table with proven compliance.
A Prisma array is:

The IEC 61439 standard clearly defines the type of checks that must be carried out by each of the 2 manufacturers involved in the conformity to the standard of the final equipment: the original manufacturer, guaranteeing the design of the entire system and the overall manufacturer, responsible of the final conformity of the table.

IEC 61439 standard

The 10 main functions of IEC 61439

For each of the 10 functions below, the IEC 61439 standard requires system builders to carry out design verifications – essentially via type tests – and panel builders to carry out routine verifications to ensure 3 main functions: safety, continuity of service and compliance to the requirements of the end customer.

– security
Ability to withstand tensile stresses
Withstand permanent voltages and transient and temporary overvoltages in accordance with the principles and requirements of isolation coordination.

Ability to carry current
Protect against burns and resist overheating:

Ability to withstand short circuits
Withstand the stresses resulting from the presumed short-circuit current and associated data (high forces between conductors, heating in a very short time, air ionization, overpressure).

Protection against electric shock

Protection against the risk of fire or explosion

Continuity of service
Aptitude for maintenance and modifications
Ability to maintain continuity of service without compromising safety during maintenance or modifications of the assembly:

Electromagnetic compatibility
Operate correctly (immunity) and not generate EM disturbances (emission) under specified environmental conditions:

Compliance with end customer requirements
Ability to operate the electrical installation
Operate properly, in accordance with:

Suitability for installation on site

Protection of the whole against the mechanical and atmospheric environment

IEC 61439-1 and 2 paragraph 11.4
Protection against electric shock and integrity of protection circuits
You should visually check:

IEC 61439-1 and 2 paragraph 11.5

Shapes according to IEC 61439-1 & 2

The form of the separation and the degrees of protection must be agreed between the manufacturer and the user.

In most installations, Prisma P cubicles do not require any particular partitioning.
The electrical panel is then Form 1.
In a constant concern for safety, Schneider Electric offers arrangements that go well beyond the recommendations of the standard.
In fact, the protection of people and property is guaranteed from the outset:

Shapes according to IEC 61439-1 & 2

Shape 2b
Terminals for external conductors separated from the busbars.
Functional units and terminals are separated from the busbar.

Shape 3b
Terminals for external conductors separated from the busbars.
The functional units are separated from each other and separated from the busbars.
The terminals are separated from the busbars, but are not separated from each other.

Shape 4a
Terminals for external conductors in the same compartment as the functional unit to which they are associated.

Shape 4b

IP30 / 31/55 cells

Thought out down to the smallest detail, Prisma P cubicles allow all common switchgear configurations up to 4000 A.
A reduced number of references facilitates the choice while offering essential functionalities such as:

Around the same frame, all the casing panels (IP30 or IP55) are fixed by 1/4 turn devices.
Electrical continuity is achieved naturally, without the addition of staples or ground braid.

IP30 / 31/55 cells

The framework

With closed profiled uprights, the framework combines lightness and rigidity. Its compactness allows a gain in useful volume of about 15%. Very ergonomic, it has no sharp edges.
The assembly, carried out with only 12 directly accessible screws, is particularly fast.
The uprights are provided with wing holes at 25 mm intervals. A starting mark (zero point) allows a meter to be hooked to measure the useful height necessary for installing a device.
Markings installed every 50 mm with a double marking every 100 mm facilitate the counting of modules. A ground fixing device also allows the adjustment of the flatness.

The framework

The faceplates are fitted with clip-on grippers with integrated 1/4 turn closure for quick handling and installation.
The sealing function is directly integrated into the gripper fixing mechanism.

Swivel frame support

It allows direct and instant access to the equipment.
Reversible, it is articulated around two pre-assembled hinges.
2 screws are enough to fix it on the frame.

Swivel frame support

The doors

Solid or transparent, reversible right-left, door assembly is particularly quick and easily carried out by a single person.
The pre-assembled hinges lock on 1/4 turn studs. The handle installed as a block in its location is locked by clipping.
All the attachment points are located at the front of the uprights and leave the useful space free for the equipment.
In width 800 mm, the doors are delivered with a screen L = 150 mm preventing access to the busbar.
The push-pull handle offers a wide choice of locking.

Bottom panels

IP30 panels consist of 2 1/2 identical and interchangeable panels, very easy to handle.
They are extra flat to save floor space.
Openings ensure natural ventilation of the painting.
The IP55 panels are reinforced (IK10), and have centering pins which facilitate their installation.

Side panels

Thanks to their ergonomics and rounded edges, they are very easy to handle.
Their installation is guided from below using the hooking pins.
Like all trim panels, they are very quick to attach using 1/4 turn devices.

The roof

Extra flat panel to allow passage of the switchboard under all the doors, it has 4 openings allowing the lifting rings to pass.
These can be installed and removed without removing the roof.
