The Kit: Plug and Play encoder
Most optical encoders, whether kit or not, generally require cleanroom mounting conditions. POSITAL magnetic encoders are much less sensitive to dust and moisture, and can be installed under normal factory conditions.
Automatic calibration
In order to facilitate the assembly for the user, an automatic calibration function is integrated. This eliminates the need for complex production equipment: during the product testing phase, the encoder can be connected to a small “Kit Control Box”. As the shaft rotates, the automatic calibration system corrects minor offsets between the shaft and the electronics.
Programmable parameters = more flexibility!
The “Kit Control Box” can also be used to program the main characteristics of the encoder, to modify its performance. So you can easily change the number of pulses generated per revolution, for example, without making any changes to mechanical or electrical components. This makes the kit encoders even more versatile.
The software integrated in the encoder kit also monitors the condition of the electronics and provides diagnostic signals over the life of the encoder.
In addition, compact and low cost shielding accessories are available to protect electronic components and the Hall effect sensor from external magnetic fields such as those generated by magnetic brakes.
