As with the bipolar transistor, there are 2 types of MOS: NMOS and PMOS. As for the JFET, the MOS is controlled in tension, but not in the same way.

Prenons en exemple les caractéristiques d’un NMOS :
Fonctionnement :
Toujours pour un NMOS :
– si Vgs < Vth (tension seuil) alors le NMOS est bloqué
– si Vgs > Vth alors le NMOS est passant, il y a alors 2 cas possibles :
– si Vds < Vgs – Vth alors le NMOS est en zone ohmique
– sinon le NMOS est en zone linéaire
Remarques :
– Vth = 2V environ
– le fonctionnement d’un PMOS est le même avec des tensions négatives, par exemple : Vth = -2V, et pour que le PMOS soit passant, il faut Vgs > Vth (négativement ! i.e. Vgs = -3V, -4V, -5V…).
